What Is a Dental Crown?
A dental crown is a custom restoration that covers the visible portion of a tooth. It can restore strength, shape and function when a tooth is too damaged or weakened for a smaller restoration.

How a Same-Day Crown Is Made
This video walks through the same-day crown process, from preparing and digitally scanning the tooth to designing and creating the custom restoration. For eligible cases, the finished crown can then be checked for fit, adjusted and placed during the same appointment.

For eligible patients, CEREC CAD/CAM technology may allow Ellui Dental to design, fabricate and place a crown during one appointment. Your dentist must first evaluate whether a same-day workflow is appropriate for your tooth.
How do I know whether I need a crown or a filling?
A filling generally repairs a smaller area of damage. A crown covers the visible tooth and may be recommended when a large filling, crack or significant loss of tooth structure makes a smaller restoration less predictable.
Do I need a crown after root canal treatment?
