Dental Bridge Problems? We Can Help.
A dental bridge can be an effective fixed replacement for one or more missing teeth, but its long-term health depends on the teeth or implants supporting it. If a support tooth develops decay, infection, fracture or periodontal disease, the entire connected restoration may be affected.
Sometimes the bridge can be replaced. Sometimes a portion can be preserved while one damaged support is treated independently. In more advanced situations, tooth extraction and dental implant treatment may provide more predictable support.
The purpose of a bridge evaluation is to identify the cause—not simply cover the symptoms—and determine which teeth and restorations still have a strong long-term outlook.

How Ellui Dental Approaches Failing Bridges
These cases show why bridge problems require individual diagnosis. Treatment ranged from conservative bridge replacement to strategic sectioning, individual crowns, bone grafting and implant-supported reconstruction.
Full-Mouth Rescue: Saving What Could Be Saved, Replacing What Could Not
The patient arrived with failing restorations, a broken lower bridge, missing teeth and difficulty chewing. The failing lower teeth and bridge were removed and replaced with a full-arch implant restoration. In the upper arch, healthy implants and teeth with a strong outlook were preserved; only hopeless teeth were removed, and the arch was restored with fixed restorations and a removable partial denture.
- Full-arch implant restoration on the lower arch
- Preservation of healthy upper teeth and implants
- Strategic extractions only where necessary
- Upper removable partial denture for esthetics and function
The result improved smile appearance, comfort and chewing through a plan built around the patient's specific needs.

Replacing a Failing Lower Anterior Bridge with Individual Zirconia Crowns
A decades-old porcelain-fused-to-metal bridge had chipped and fractured, exposing metal and compromising appearance and function. After the bridge was removed, laser gingivectomy improved gingival symmetry and created a foundation for individual zirconia crowns.
The independent restorations improved esthetics, hygiene access and natural appearance while replacing the failing connected bridge.

Replacing a Failing Front Bridge
This patient was born without upper lateral incisors and had worn a fixed bridge since her teenage years. Although the bridge appeared acceptable from the front, the porcelain on the back had significant wear and fracture after multiple repairs.
The old bridge was removed, gingival symmetry was refined with laser treatment and the area was restored with individual zirconia crowns for improved esthetics, hygiene access and a more natural appearance.

Our Treatment Principle
Fix the Cause, Not Just the Symptoms
Simply replacing a bridge is not always the best response to a bridge problem.
- 01Sometimes a tooth can be saved.
- 02Sometimes root canal treatment is appropriate.
- 03Sometimes a fractured tooth must be removed and replaced with an implant.
- 04Sometimes a combination of treatments provides the most predictable result.
Our goal is to determine the approach that gives the patient the best chance of maintaining a healthy, functional smile for years to come.
